Do you remember my 100 days off alcohol last year?

Every year, from 1st September to 9th December I take 100 days off drinking, other than a limited number of VERY special exceptions.

As much as drinking wine is fun, it’s always good I feel to give my body a rest for a while. I don’t drink that much, it’s just about some balance.

We’re big fans of responsible drinking. It’s a huge part of drinking. Understanding your limits and your intake is vital to wine being a positive influence and part of your entertainment.

For my last day of drinking last year I visited my pals at St Vincent, Newcastle and drank a bunch of Tillingham wines, ate some wonderful bread and cured meats, then went in search of chicken and waffles. An angry lady on a bike shouted at me too.

Who’s joining me?

Steve

Wine for the rest of summer?

Usually we bring out a summer box but after nearly launching one we decided to stick with the mystery box as our feature.

If you’re planning to have some socially distanced meet-ups (where rules allow) or just plan on chilling in the garden during the rest of August then the mystery box is probably for you.

Go check it out on the featured product page and message us on WhatsApp or Facebook messenger if you want to talk about anything.

Enjoy!

Do you spend £500 on wine a year?

Be honest.

The chances are you do. That’s not really that much when you think about it. Probably more – way more.

£500 a year is about £9.60 a week. Even £1,000 a year is only about £19.25 a week!

It’s one of the reasons we set up in a subscription format.

It’s likely that wine is bought by “nipping in” to somewhere and grabbing a bottle. Maybe something familiar, maybe something new. But it’s often in the region of £7 a bottle we think.

It’s possible to really level up the quality of the wine with just a few £s extra spent with us, plus the convenience of your wine being at home when you want it and delivered regularly.

It’s almost a no brainer.

We’re celebrating English Wine Week

English Wine Week 2020 is 20th June to 28th June, and this week we’ve been celebrating some of the best wines our country has to offer.

Everyone who follows us knows that we’re huge fans of English wines. We have a phenomenal Davenport package on offer, which is one of our favourites, and during lockdown have sampled the Forty Hall Bacchaus.

Forty Hall is super interesting – according to the label it’s the only commercial scaled vineyard in London, run as a not for profit, by volunteers.

When it comes to the Davenport, our favourite is the Horsmonden which is a blend of Ortega, Faber, Siegerrebe, Bacchaus and Huxelrebe and it’s probably Steve’s favourite white wine, however the Diamond Fields, which is a Pinot Noir is a stunning red that can’t be overlooked.

But it’s not just that they’re grown in England that makes us love these wines – it’s the quality, which is something we always pride ourselves on here at One Day Wednesday.

The Davenport and the Forty Hall really are fantastic wines and compete well with anything in our opinion.

Want to know more or join in the celebration? Let’s celebrate together and have a chat about these wines today!

We hope you’re celebrating English Wine Week too.

Life’s too short to drink bad wine!

Happy Bank Holiday weekend! Hope everyone is keeping well in lockdown and staying in positive spirits.

During lockdown we’ve had several conversations with people around wine quality. With lockdown in place its increasingly more difficult to get hold of particular wines in shops and supermarkets you might usually enjoy, supermarkets aren’t offering discounts like they used to and some have found they just aren’t receiving quality on the amounts they are spending with some of the wine they are getting delivered from some online wine merchants.

One Day Wednesday has a bit of a different approach to our wine curating to help you get the very best wine at a great package price.

Specialising in natural, organic and biodynamic wines, we offer some of the best wines the world has to offer that have been created by fellow wine lovers with passion, care and creativity.

We want to make your wine experience personal, offering you not only some of the best quality wine around, but we also speak directly with you to ensure we put a package together that suits your tastes and needs.

We are passionate about our customers and our wines, and we love making fantastic pairings that will keep you satisfied through the lockdown period.

Want to know more about our wines, make a one off order or learn about the subscriptions we have to offer? We would love to speak with you and get you some great wine delivered just in time for you to enjoy over the next May Bank Holiday if you missed out this time!
