This English white wine is everything.
The I tasted it about a year ago, right when the weather was starting to heat up in 2018 in England and I was blown away. I instantly described it as adult lime juice to everyone I know, and have introduced a bunch of people to it.
It’s one of the best things about the rise of English producers, and this guy has it spot on.
If you haven’t drank this yet, you need to.
I even paid more than double for a bottle of this at a bar recently with some friends, but it was worth it.
Context: until I discovered organic wine, I couldn’t drink white without getting really back stomach acid. Being able to drink this (and others) is a game changer for me.
The maker
Will Davenport is a genius. I’ve told him that via twitter a number of times.
Everything started with 5 acres of vines at Horsmonden in Kent. The vineyard is now 24 acres. In 2000 all of the vines were converted to organic.
Our opinion
The best white wine I’ve ever tasted. It’s adult lime juice and can be enjoyed on any occasion. You’re cheating yourself if you don’t try this.
Steve’s scale
#1.
As I said above, the best white wine I’ve ever had. It’ll take something very special to knock this off the top spot.
If you’re wondering about the relevance of the skateboard in the shot – I’m a skateboarder and have been since I was young. Mischief was the local independent skate store run by Bingo (google him) who sadly passed some years ago. We’re trying to represent him in a lot of what we do as an independent business from Teesside. You can also see the iconic Transporter Bridge, which is a prominent Teesside landmark on the board graphic.
